Frequently Asked Questions

Where does my donation go?

Your donation supports our mission to help K9 teams and departments around the country and allows us to donate life saving and essential equipment such as bullet resistant vests, Narcan overdose reversal kits, trauma kits, care packages. We also assist retired and current law enforcement K9s with food, medical and care packages on a case by case basis.

What other things does K9s of Valor donate?

Examples of what K9s of Valor donates to working and retired K9s outside of lifesaving and essential equipment are:

  • Financial assistance with veterinary care

  • Goodie boxes filled with toys, treats and training equipment

  • Financial assistance with final expenses

  • Dog food

  • Cooling mats and water bowls

  • Grants for training and equipment

  • Orthopedic dog beds

  • Harnesses, leashes and collars

  • Memorial Portraits

  • Crates

We also partner with other non-profits to help meet the needs of the K9 teams they are assisting.

Don’t police departments already provide all of these things to their K9 Units?

Unfortunately as a result of budget constraints and other factors, very few police departments are able to provide everything a K9 team needs. In fact, many K9 Units are run 100% off of donations. While it may seem unfair, the fact of the matter is this is reality for countless units across the country, and that is why we have stepped in to help fill in the gaps. These K9 teams are still going to protect and serve their communities regardless if they have the proper equipment needed to keep them safe. That is why with your help, we can provide what these brave officers and K9s need to get home safe.

Does K9s of Valor donate K9s to Officers?

While not a part of our original mission, we have expanded what we provide to meet the growing and ever changing needs of today’s law enforcement community. This includes our new K9 Memorial Fund. Part of the newly founded fund is dedicated to providing fully trained K9s to officers who have suffered the loss of their K9 partner or do not have the funds available for a K9. Since April 2020, we have donated three fully trained dual purpose K9s to departments in California, Louisiana and Kentucky. For 2023, we are in the process of donating our third police K9.
