The Story of K9s of Valor

It was breaking news on January 10, 2016 that launched a journey of protecting our law enforcement K9s. K9 Jethro and Officer Davis with Canton, Ohio Police were on patrol, doing what they do every day — putting their lives on the line and protecting our community. After responding to a burglary call at a local grocery store, K9 Jethro was shot by the suspect and later died from the injuries.

Our founder, Nate King, was deeply touched to do something to keep our police dogs safe. With a love of dogs and a passion for serving in law enforcement, Nate began doing research on K9 units in the area. After speaking with several K9 Officers he found that the majority of law enforcement agencies do not have a budget for their K9 Unit. Instead, agencies rely heavily on community support or the handler pays for the items out of their own pocket.

This launched an idea to provide a few local K9s with first aid kits but later grew into a much larger nationwide vision to keep K9s across the country safe by donating life saving supplies and more.
