Meet Our Team - Nate King

It was breaking news on January 10, 2016 that launched a journey of protecting our law enforcement K9s. K9 Jethro and Officer Davis with Canton, Ohio Police were on patrol, doing what they do every day, putting their lives on the line and protecting our community. After responding to a burglary call at a local grocery store, K9 Jethro was shot by the suspect and later died from the injuries.

Our founder, Nate King, was deeply touched to do something to keep our police dogs safe. With a love of dogs and a passion for serving in law enforcement, Nate began doing research on K9s and lifesaving equipment such as trauma kits, bullet proof vests and vehicle heat sensors. After speaking with several K9 Officers he found that the majority of law enforcement agencies do not have a budget for their K9 Unit. Instead, agencies rely heavily on community support or the handler pays for the items out of their own pocket.

Meet Our Team - Christina Roof

Christina Roof joined K9s of Valor in 2019 by way of Capitol Hill. Christina worked as the National Legislative Director for two large veteran service organizations for many years in our nation’s capital. While she worked most issues encompassing the defense and veteran worlds, she had a passion for the issues involving military working dogs and service dogs. In fact, Christina has authored two pieces of legislation that were later signed into law regarding working dogs. Since joining K9s of Valor Christina has helped grow the organization and thus the number of K9 teams we help. While involved in all aspects of the organization, Christina has focused on outreach, fundraising and public relations.

K9 Arlo

Retired K9 Arlo- @officialk9arlo was shot in December 2020 while assisting Officers with the apprehension of a non-compliant suspect. Arlo's wounds were nearly fatal & ended his career in Washington State, but he has continued to play an incredibly important role as a member of our team in his retirement. To date, Arlo has helped raise more than $20,000 for @k9storminc ballistic vests and @dustoff_k9 trauma kits. Arlo & his handler always step up to help and we are honored to have them as members of our team.

K9 Luky

Retired K9 Lúky- @k9_luky has been a member of our pack since December 2020. He & his handler have played a critically important role in helping us vest K9s across AZ & the country. In fact, Lúky's handler has single handedly sized over 70 K9s for their @k9storminc vests. Luky is also a resource for law enforcement agencies across the country when it comes to education about the vests. Lúky's handler has more than 25 years in law enforcement & is a priceless assest to us & countless agencies.
